To discover if a person has been adjudicated bankruptcy during the last 5 years or if an application for bankruptcy is pending against him or her an application can be made for a bankruptcy search.

This application can be made from our sibling web site LandSearch, who will submit an application via its direct link to the Land Charges department of HM Land Registry, where an immediate result can be obtained and transmitted to you. This would be followed the next day with a certificate from the Land Charges department confirming the search result.

An office copy of the bankruptcy application can also be obtained, if required.

The certificate will either list the Bankruptcy Applications and Orders in respect of the name submitted, or else confirm that no such Applications or Orders are pending. The certificate will only provide results for a period of 5 years back from the date of the applicaiton.

The search may reveal entries against another person of the same name, although the address and court details are provided so that identification can be readily establshed.
